Your Consultation
Your Consultation
You can be seen at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Harefield Hospital or our Wimpole Street clinic, London, for your outpatient consultation.
As a Private patient, you won’t necessarily need a referral from a cardiologist but may need to seek authorisation from your insurance company for the consultation. An out-patient appointment can be arranged through Mr Asimakopoulos’ Private Secretary by calling the number above or completing the ‘request a consultation’ form by clicking the link at the top of this page.
First Consultation
In the out-patient clinic your treatment options will be discussed with you, as Mr Asimakopoulos will have studied the results of your investigation beforehand.
This appointment is an opportunity for Mr Asimakopoulos to meet you; understand your symptoms and answer any questions you may have before discussing treatment options.
Sometimes, further investigations are necessary and will be planned after the consultation.
Should it be decided that surgery is indicated, you will be able to discuss the reasons, the technique advised, the benefits and the risks of the procedure. You will also be able to discuss the anticipated length of stay in the hospital and what you should expect during the recovery period.
Mr Asimakopoulos specialises in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Aortic Valve Surgery, Surgery of the Aortic Root and Ascending Aorta or combinations of these procedures, and also combined surgery with other heart valves in join procedures with other specialist colleagues based at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
A procedure will be arranged as soon as mutually practical, and his private secretary will liaise with you regarding your hospital admission.
Sometimes, patients do not require surgery in the immediate future. In this case you may stay under his care for follow-up appointments, be discharged, or referred to another colleague, such as a cardiologist, where appropriate.
